Rosy's Fish City is a straightforward seafood restaurant nestled on Story Road in San Jose, that caters well to folks looking for a reliable Mexican seafood experience without any fuss. The interior feels casual and open, making it suitable for family dinners, casual meetups, or a relaxed solo lunch. It’s the kind of place where you won’t feel rushed, and the service keeps things moving with polite, attentive staff.

The menu leans heavily into fresh seafood with a clear Mexican influence, showcasing traditional dishes like ceviche, Mexican seafood cocktails, and hearty mixed seafood options like the Mariscada. Grilled fish varieties—from snapper to salmon and swordfish—offer lighter grilled choices, while fried favorites like fish & chips and seafood nachos satisfy more indulgent cravings. Lobster dishes have drawn local fans, especially those who enjoy seafood with a bit more indulgence, as well as classic combos served with sides such as rice and sautéed vegetables.

If you’re visiting with kids, there are simple, kid-friendly options like fish & chips and grilled cheese, making the place relatively family-friendly. Prices tend to be moderate, reflecting portion sizes that cater well to those looking to get a satisfying meal without it feeling overly fancy or expensive.

The atmosphere leans toward practical and convivial. It’s the kind of spot locals might choose for a laid-back weekend lunch or an early dinner after a day out. While the setting isn’t polished or trendy, the food quality stands out—fresh seafood is the core, although seasoning can be hit or miss depending on the dish. For example, clam chowder and grilled seafood get good marks for flavor, whereas some fried items may feel less seasoned than expected.

Rosy’s tends to draw in a diverse local crowd, from families seeking a simple, tasty seafood meal to seafood enthusiasts eager to sample a range of dishes from ceviche to grilled lobster tails. It pairs well with a casual vibe, where you can take your time savoring a seafood cocktail or share a big fisherman's platter with company.

Best times to visit are likely midday to early evening, when the place is lively but not crowded, offering a chance to enjoy fresh preparations without long waits. It’s well suited for those who appreciate straightforward Mexican seafood classics with a no-fuss atmosphere—easygoing, unpretentious, and focused on the food.

A nice wide variety of fresh seafood on the menu! Something for everyone to include ceviche, fried, sandwiches, and plates! I particularly like the seafood tosdada appetizer which was balance really well and fresh. The fried sampler plate had a nice variety to include fish, shrimp, oyster, calamari, and small scallops with fries and coleslaw. Seating is open and service was polite and quick. Prices were fair. Updated prices on menu have been added to photos. Plenty of parking and handicap access is no problem. They have a small selection of kids items on the menu. Good selection of alcohol and non-alcohol beverages. Easy access off story rd. I would come back!

A cozy Mexican seafood spot with a pretty good clam chowder. I did come here for the clam chowder and it was good, well seasoned with a solid amount of clams but their fried fish with potatoes were a bit bland. It really didn't have any seasoning and while it was fresh and fried well, the lack of seasonings did really put it down. Overall pricing isn't that bad so worth a visit.

I tried the fries served with steak, shrimp, and a large crustacean tail, and the dish was truly enjoyable. Everything was seasoned well and came out fresh and hot. I would gladly return, and I have even recommended this place to friends who enjoy seafood.

If you enjoy lobster I suggest trying it. My partner loves lobster and I saw this place on Instagram. He got a shrimp fettuccine bowl with lobster on top and he really enjoyed it. I got the lobster fries which came with steak and shrimp and a lobster tail. It was pretty good and I would go back and already recommended to some friends who like fish. They seemed to have. A wide variety of fish and were reasonably priced. Servers were fast and super sweet. I enjoyed the potato skins also and the pina colada was really good.
